Well.... where do I begin?

.... where do I begin with what's been going on with me? So much has happened since June, both good and bad. Well, about a month ago we moved and have been doing a large renovation in the new house. I am still living at home, so we decided to make a full suite in the basement. This weekend it finally got finished and I am now kinda living on my own and really enjoying it. Now my dad is working on the main floor and in about a month we will be getting all our boxes and can start settling into our new little home.

I have also started school again. This time I am going to RDC and taking Early Learning and Child Care! It is going well, I am enjoying learning about kids and how to work with them! My Haiti trip is now postponed for another year. I still really want to go, but I'm waiting for God to tell me when I need to go. I am waiting for the right time.

Since I have been home, I have gotten connected in my church and I am loving every minute of it! Honestly, I am so blessed to be apart of an amazing group of young adults. On Tuesday nights we meet up and have wonderful conversations and have so much together. It feels like a family! Our Pastor and his wife are such a blessing to me! I feel safe and encouraged when I am with all these wonderful, loving and God fearing people!

I have a few dreams for the next few years....
I still plan on going to Haiti
I want to work with youth
I want to do some traveling
I want to meet a man who I will one day call my husband
and I want to continually fall in love with my Heavenly Father!

On the Battle Field....

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. - Hilary Cooper

Well, I ha been back home for about 6 weeks now and it hasn't been anything close to easy... I've been tested and brought to my knees regularly. God has been working on my heart and my life. Since I have been home I have fought through heart ache and wanting a relationship even more, Honestly as I write this post, I am still fighting with this desire. I've been attending a young adults group in the city and the pastor has been preaching on healthy and Godly relationships, but also what you have to do while you are single. So I've been working on myself and getting right with God, and knowing Him more.

God has also been teaching me about my self in other ways... I got a job in retail and I have struggled endlessly with the issue of beauty and body image. God is continuing to give me strength each day as I go to work.

Also since I have been home, I lost a loved one. My cousin passed away a week ago. (June 8). It was sudden and unexpected. She was in a quadding accident and she drowned in the river and her body was recovered 16km from the spot where the quad went into the river. I've learned to really cherish the moments you have with those who you love and be thankful for the life God has given us. I have struggled with her passing, and asking why, she was so young... Only God knows, but knowing she is with her Heavenly Father brings some peace. I started to think about my life and what do I want to be remembered by. My cousin was loved by so many, over 400 people came to her funeral, and everyone who shared with us, shared about her smile and the love she shared with everyone she came in contact with...

How do I want to remembered... I want to be remembered as someone who went to the Lord for guidance in all that I did and lived to bring Him glory! I want to be remembered as a friend to all. I want to remembered as someone who lived life to the fullest and loved those whom I came in contact with.

What will my story involve... well as of now my story is continuing with post-secondary. In the fall I will be taking Early Learning and Childcare studies and I still plan on going to Haiti and doing work there. My story is still being written and I can't wait to see where it will go. The Lord only knows

A Year That Will Not Soon Be Forgotten

I DID IT! I graduated with my certificate! This past weekend I cross the stage and received my Leaders in Front Line TraIning Certificate from Vanguard College! It was by the grace of God that I graduated. It was a rough year but through it all I saw God do amazing things! I grew so much and I learned to not put doubt God for anything!

In September I never would have thought I would be where I am right now. I started off in the Music Program called FUEL but in the winter semester I transferred to the LIFT Program. I am amazing by how God has had His hand upon me this year. I had many whirl wind days... Some days I wanted to just hide in my bed, others I wanted to just move back home and others I wanted to conquer the world and set it on fire for The Lord and go into full time ministry. I know God has an amazing plan for everything, I am just waiting to see what He has planned for me next. :)

Before school started I went it open minded ready to be changed, but I was scared how God wanted to use me! I didn't go into the year looking for a relationship and the first thing God did was test me and I believe I passed the test. I made a promise that the first semester was dedicated to God and I was not going to jump into a relationship. It's an amazing peace that fills you when you know that God wants you to say not now or now to someone when you know God has asked you too. That's what I had to do. I said no to him and said that I have a lot of stuff I have to figure out while I am here. Things after that were not the same. I went into my second semester not sure if I was ready to date, but if God had someone for me then He would have to show me and I would have to have peace about it. Honestly, somedays were rough... Feeling alone was not fun and I really have had to learn to trust God through it all. I ended the semester single. I spent the year learning what God has planned for relationships and His desire for them and I a, so glad I have learnt these little lessons. I have learned to go into a relationship with reasonable expectations and be open to what God has planned for it.

Another lesson I learnt is that friends come and go. God gives us friends for a season in life and some for a lifetime. I have made friends who have challenged me, encouraged me, prayed for me, laughed at me and with me. Some of these friendships will last a lifetime and some sadly ended on Sunday night. I have made a few really close friends this past year who have walked with me through the ups and downs I had these past 8 months. On friend who I have cherished is my friend Marisa. She honestly is one of the best things that happened to me at Vanguard. She truly is a blessing and a loyal friend. She was there when I hit rock bottom and she was there in my happiest moments. Our conversations are ones only we can understand sometimes but they r meaningful to us! I'm gonna miss her that's for sure! Friend help you find out who you are and they leave footprints behind! Love it!

God also taught me to not doubt Him AT ALL! I was scared but I knew I needed big change in my life! I wanted to be open. The first months I was learning that God wants all of me and the importance of being open to the Holy Spirit working in my life. The November 1st weekend was the high light of my first semester. That weekend God really worked on my heart. I was healed of many past hurts and heartaches and fell on my face and gave so much that was hindering me to Him. I had made the decision that weekend to get baptized! I knew it was the right time. When I got home from the weekend I called my parents and told them with tears of joy streaming down my face. After that I called their pastor and told him. We set a date. December 16, 2012 I got baptized! That November weekend I also received the baptism in the Spirit. When I started speaking in a different tongue I was filled with joy. Many were around me praying for me and others had also received their baptism. It was one of the coolest God moments I had seen! I could really feel God for the first time in a while. :) it was simply amazing! God is so Good!!

I am open to where God wants to take me and what He has planned for me and the change He has for me. But that doesn't mean I'm not scared... I AM FREAKING TERRIFIED SOMETIMES! I'm wanting to be open though so I know I need to trust God cause He won't put me through anything that He knows I won't be able to handle. I can trust in that promise!

What's next... Well I am not sure. I have a missions trip planned I the new year and after that we'll God only knows and He will tell me in the right time. I am thankful for this year and I will miss my friends but there is more to this adventure ... My life!

God Works!

WOW!!! God is sooo good! This past weekend, the college I am attending had a weekend called InVision. Many students from all over come and check out the college. We had a few chapel times and during the worship I was praying that God would use me. I had felt like I had nothing to give, but I knew God uses anyone! There was a time of prayer after the speaking and I felt like God kept nudging me to go up and pray for this one young lady. I went, not knowing what to say, then God's words were flowing through me and He was speaking to her! I finished praying with her, and sat down with my friend. God once again used me. I knew her past and all the hurt she was facing and things she was dealing with. Then I started to visualize this beautiful picture of healing. Sitting there I just shared what I saw. I don't know what happened after that.

Friday night we had another service, this one had some of the youth groups in the city attend. During the alter time, I saw one of my youth and just shared with her what God was telling me and what a beautiful moment. While worship was going I opened my Bible and was like "God if you want me to share this verse with someone, then show me!"  Not long after one girl (one of the InVisioners) came up to me and I knew she was the one that the verse was for. After I prayed with her. I can not remember what I was saying, I believe God worked once again in that moment! This weekend was filled with crazy God moments, and never before had I stepped out of my comfort zone and shared what God was putting on my heart! It was truly and incredible experience!

I am more excited than ever to see what God wants to do!!!

Heart in the Hands of God

1 Peter 3:2&4

2  - "when they see the purity and reverence of your lives."

4 - "Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."

In 1 Peter 3, it talks about Husbands and wives. As I was reading this a few weeks ago in my devotions these 2 verses popped out to me and made me really think of what I want a godly man to see in me. I've always wanted to get married and have a family. I have this desire for a Christ-Centered relationship, I want to fall in love with a man who loves God with all he has. I started to examine myself... what do I want a godly man to see in me? I want him to see a woman who loves God, who sees purity a must, who is ready to and is letting God work in my life. Who sees true value in a Christ-Centered relationship.

In all honesty, I have struggled the past while with letting God have control. I am not perfect and sometimes I want life to go my way! I have to continue to remember God has everything planned, and in His time it will all work out. Psalm 27:14 "Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" I have to remember to wait for the Lord's timing and all will fall into place at the right time. Do not worry, God even says it in His word. Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

It has almost been a year that I have been praying the man I will one day marry, the one for who the Lord has planned for me. I believe those prayers are working, I believe I have become a stronger women (yes, I do stumble and have rough times. but I am only human) and I believe God is working in his life, shaping him into the man I will one day call my husband... My Beloved. God is continuing to work in my life, and I just need to remember that God is in control, not me.

So ladies, pray for the man you will one day marry. Pray for his salvation, safety, purity, his walk with our Heavenly Father, his character, and his heart. Also, pray that God will shape you into a women of God, living in purity, and beauty in the eyes of God. Keep your heart in the hands of God!

Men, (for those of you who may read this) pray for your wives. Pray for their hearts to be placed in God's hands till you come along and God says, 'Son, it is your time with her, but I will still be here, all the time. For I loved her first. Take care of her heart.' And pray that you as young men will stay pure and walk with God forever.

Break Forth and Hospital Adventure

Meeting George Canyon at a late night concert!

My weekend has been an interesting one! Friday was the start of Break Forth 2013! Casting Crowns blew my mind, I love them so much! Honestly, probably one of my highlights of the weekend! I also had the opportunity on Friday to see my friends little brother compete in the Break Forth Artist Competition he made the top 10 out of hundreds! He did such a wonderful job! Got to see a bunch of friends from high school, and ran into one of my old Sunday School teachers! It was pretty crazy!!! Saturday, well where do I start! ummm, it was painful! The upside was I got to see Kari Jobe, she held a session on letting the Spirit lead in worship and how to be open to the Spirit as a worship leader! I got so much out of that session. By the time we walked back to the main building I was in so much pain, I just wanted to go home! I got to spend time with friends, but I would have enjoyed it so much more without the pain. By the time I got home, I was EXHAUSTED! Sadly, I didn't sleep at all! I got a hold of my cousin who took me to the emergency, Sunday morning! (she has been so great to have around since I moved to this big city). After close to 3 hours we were out! :) My parents showed up just a the doctor came in and told me how to take care of my ankle. I ended up spraining it pretty bad! Due to my Spina Bifida I have a weak right ankle that I roll fairly easily. I rolled it a few weeks ago, and fell a few times over the past couple weeks and with all the walking I put lots of stain on it. I think after being up for over 30 hours of almost unbearable pain, one should go to the hospital. The doctors were wonderful and helped so much!

Through out the day I received texts from friends with encouraging words and some prayers. My one friend texted out an entire prayer! Some of the prayer team members at Break Forth were praying for me! I believe God took some of the pain away! GOD IS SOOO GOOD!!!
I had a crazy weekend! I also go to meet one of my favorite Canadian Country Artists; George Canyon!
